Schlam Group – an all of equipment mining specialist – has announced that it is undertaking the biggest recruitment drive in its 25-year history, committing to hire 100 new staff in the coming months.
The majority of the jobs will be for tradespeople mostly in the mechanical space working fly-in, fly-out in the Pilbara.
Speaking about the news, the company’s chief executive officer Ryan Schlam said that the company was enjoying a period of rapid growth brought about by long-term planning and disruptions in the market due to COVID-19.
“We set a bold recruitment target at the beginning of the financial year and have been laying the foundations in terms of people, equipment and systems over the past six months.
“It’s become clear that we need to speed up that timeline due to the demand in the market in areas closely associated with our core business, especially our labour services division,” said Mr Schlam.
The company has workshops in Forrestfield, Waroona, Tom Price and Newman handling significant projects for Tier 1 miners that are coordinated from Schlam’s Headquarters in Perth.
The company’s strategic growth has opened the doors for qualified HD fitters, auto electricians, line borers, servicepeople and HV electricians.
The company is also working to increase staffing levels for key office-based roles, including recruitment, placement, and human resources to meet the scale of the customer’s requirements.
“We have a clear vision that we want to be on every mine site in the world. It’s an ambitious vision, but it gives us something clear to aim for as an organisation.
“It also helps us attract people to our business who want to be part of something meaningful and who are not afraid to roll their sleeves up and take on a challenge like this,” said Mr Schlam.
