Continuing our period of investment throughout the north of WA, Schlam Engineering has opened its doors in Tom Price to better serve their customers in the West Pilbara and support their branches in Newman and Paraburdoo.
With the ability to accommodate the equivalent of four 793 haul truck trays the branch’s capacity plays an integral role in fulfilling the company’s commitment to offering a complete mobile equipment attachment rebuild solution in the Pilbara. The bucket workshop further increases their ability to rebuild implements locally, working in conjunction with their dedicated bucket rebuild facility in Newman.
The branch has environmentally approved blast and painting infrastructure which will be led by coating specialists from Schlam’s subsidiary company Unique Blasting & Coatings (UBC). The well-appointed fabrication workshop allows for more productivity locally and in turn more price competitiveness.
Welding, heavy mechanical and line boring field technicians will be permanently on standby at the branch, allowing for rapid response to breakdowns or unplanned events.
“The concentrated population of mine sites and a focus on condition based maintenance activity amongst our customer’s, means that a branch in Tom Price plays an important part in achieving our vision for our Pilbara Operations” says Managing Director Ryan Schlam.
“Having field technicians within close proximity to mine sites means that as sites strategically focus on extending component and mobile plant campaign life, we are able to respond quickly to events where equipment has broken down or run into failure. In turn we can reduce downtime and the true cost of equipment ownership. This facility allows us to rebuild and maintain haul truck trays in the Pilbara and also increases the level of after sales support for DT HiLoad’s Hercules truck trays in the region”.
